Design Statement

I am interested in the topic of Sea Level Rise + Melting Ice because my hometown is a coastal city, and some studies have shown that if the sea level continues to rise, my hometown will become a small town in a few decades. islands. Additionally, melting icebergs and rising sea levels are both issues of concern in the world today, as rising sea levels inundate land and melting ice deprives some animals, such as polar bears, of their habitat. The importance of protecting the environment should be realized by everyone.

I hope that through a project that shows the harm that rising sea levels are doing to people so that others can also pay attention to this issue.

Concept

This webpage is a virtual view of an island in a cold place with user choices to melt the icebergs and raise the sea level. This highlights to the user what will happen if the world is still warming, but there’s information about melting ice and sea level rising so they can realize what they should do to save it.

I hope the users can have some fun while learning knowledge.

There will be some buttons on the web page. By clicking the buttons, users will learn different knowledge. In addition, there will be a slider, and the user will melt the icebergs and rise the sea level by pulling it.

Logo

For the logo, my design is to use a pun, combining "warmth" and "war", to show that global warming will become a kind of war of nature, and it will bring dire consequences to human beings. The red thermometer highlights the urgency of it all, while the blue puck is the aftermath — melting glaciers and rising sea levels.

I hope that through this logo, users can understand this project at a glance and have some thoughts.
